AW Chambers was founded in 1987 by Asoka Weerasooriya following his tenure as State Counsel at the Attorney General's Department. From the beginning, the Chambers was shaped by the belief that difficult matters deserve serious preparation, clear judgement, and measured advocacy.

Over time, the practice has grown to handle criminal, civil, commercial, public-law, employment, customs-related, and advisory work while maintaining a distinctly litigation-aware and partner-led standard of service.

The Chambers continues to act for a broad mix of clients across sectors and circumstances, with an emphasis on discretion, preparedness, and legal work that can withstand close scrutiny.

    Chambers continuity

A practice built across generations, without changing its standard.

AW Chambers was established by Asoka Weerasooriya in 1987 and continues with the same emphasis on preparation, judgement, and measured advocacy.

The presence of Akarsha Weerasooriya within the Chambers reflects continuity in legal discipline rather than a change in character — serious work, carefully prepared, and carried forward with the same sense of responsibility.
